Weather-Related Crashes on Kansas Highways
Hydroplaning is a leading factor in weather-related vehicle crashes. According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), wet pavement contributes to over 70% of weather-related crashes each year in the U.S. Loss of traction can cause even cautious drivers to lose control, especially at highway speeds. Accidents involving hydroplaning often occur suddenly and without warning, emphasizing the importance of slowing down during and after rainfall.
