Geary County, KS (May 7, 2025) – On Wednesday afternoon, a serious two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:17 p.m. along U.S. Highway 77 near milepost 148, about 1.25 miles south of West Lyons Creek Road in Geary County, Kansas. The accident involved a northbound Toyota Corolla and a southbound Chevrolet Cruze. The collision resulted in multiple injuries, with all three individuals involved transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Junction City for treatment.
According to authorities, the 2011 Toyota Corolla, driven by 16-year-old Salman Shinwari of Manhattan, Kansas, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze traveling in the southbound lane. The Chevrolet was driven by 62-year-old Donna Marie Mitchell of Herington, Kansas, who had one passenger, 66-year-old Linda Kay Schreiner, also of Herington. All three individuals sustained suspected serious injuries. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene, and the affected area was temporarily closed to facilitate rescue and investigation efforts.
