Overland Park, KS (April 7, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash on Monday morning led to at least one person sustaining injuries in Johnson County. The accident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on southbound I-35 at mile marker 228.1, roughly 0.2 miles south of 67th Street.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, all three vehicles were traveling in lane one of I-35 when traffic began to slow. A 1994 Toyota pickup driven by 52-year-old Tono Leonel Rosa Gutierrez of Kansas City, Missouri, rear-ended a 2025 Toyota Camry, which then collided with the rear of a 2010 Honda Accord. Gutierrez was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. The other drivers and a passenger in the Camry reported no apparent injuries.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Tow trucks removed all vehicles involved, and traffic was temporarily disrupted in the area. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with Tono Leonel Rosa Gutierrez, and we hope for his full recovery.
