Speed-Related Crashes in Kansas

Sedgwick County, KS – Injury Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-135

Driving too fast for roadway conditions is a leading cause of crashes across Kansas. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) reports that speed-related crashes often result in more severe injuries because higher speeds reduce reaction time and increase the force of impact. Even when drivers stay within posted limits, conditions such as wet roads, heavy traffic, or reduced visibility may require slower speeds to drive safely. Every year, thousands of accidents occur nationwide due to drivers failing to adjust their speed, many of which could have been prevented with greater caution.
