Shawnee, KS (June 4, 2024) – Two people were injured after a car accident in the Shawnee area on Monday, June 3. The collision took place on Interstate 35 NB, near Shawnee Misson Parkway that afternoon, around 1:05 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a 2020 Ford F-250 pickup truck were traveling northbound on the interstate at the time of the incident.
It was reported that a 1996 Mazda B3000 lost its load on the interstate, which caused a 2015 Ford Transit van to slow down abruptly to avoid hitting the load. The driver of the F-250, 53-year-old Paul Anthony Koffman of Overland Park, was able to avoid hitting the Transit van but crashed into the F-150. The driver of the F-150, 27-year-old Harold Garcia of Kansas City, MO, and his passenger, 65-year-old R. Hernandez-Perez, were transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with Harold Garcia, R. Hernandez-Perez, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
