Wichita, KS (March 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle accident occurred on Friday, March 14, at approximately 1:56 p.m. on K254 Eastbound at milepost 0.8, just west of Hillside in Sedgwick County. The crash involved a 2019 Peterbilt truck and a 2001 Ford F350. The accident resulted in multiple injuries, and emergency services responded to transport the injured parties to a local hospital.
According to reports, both vehicles were traveling eastbound on K96 when traffic slowed due to reduced visibility. The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as Blade Bontrager, 31, of Wichita, was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the Ford F350. The Ford was occupied by four individuals, including the driver, Gabriel Parga-Castellano, 19, of Wichita, who sustained suspected minor injuries. Three passengers—Diana Lozano-Cruz, 18; Daniel Lozaro, 47; and Alba Longoria-Flores, 44—all from Wichita, also suffered possible or minor injuries and were transported to St. Francis Hospital for further evaluation. No apparent injuries were reported for Bontrager. The Ford F350 was removed from the scene by Bud Roat, while the Peterbilt was privately towed.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Rear-End Collisions and Road Safety in Kansas
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of crashes on Kansas roads. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), these types of accidents account for nearly 30% of all reported crashes nationwide. Factors such as distracted driving, following too closely, and reduced visibility can significantly increase the likelihood of rear-end collisions. These crashes often result in whiplash, back injuries, and other serious conditions that may require long-term medical care.
