Wichita, KS (July 2, 2025) – On Wednesday morning, July 2, a three-vehicle collision occurred around 9:25 a.m. on the southbound exit ramp from I-135 to Pawnee Street in Sedgwick County. According to authorities, the crash resulted in at least one reported injury. The collision involved a Ford F150, a Ford Crown Victoria, and a Jeep Liberty.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the driver of the Ford F150, 84-year-old Earl C. Wood of Springfield, Missouri, was following too closely and rear-ended the Ford Crown Victoria, pushing it into a third vehicle, a Jeep Liberty. The driver of the Crown Victoria, 43-year-old Grady G. Danner of Hutchinson, Kansas, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital. The driver of the Jeep, 49-year-old Carol J. Adamczak of Wichita, and Wood were not reported injured. Emergency services responded to the scene, and Tow Service Inc removed the Crown Victoria. Traffic in the area was impacted during the investigation. The incident remains under investigation by KHP Trooper K197.
Our thoughts are with Grady Danner and all others affected by this accident. We hope for a quick and full recovery for the injured.
Tailgating and Rear-End Collisions in Kansas
Rear-end crashes are often caused by drivers following too closely, and they remain one of the most common types of collisions nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), rear-end collisions account for nearly 29% of all crashes, many resulting from driver inattention or aggressive driving. Following another vehicle too closely reduces the time available to react, increasing the risk of serious injury, especially at highway speeds. It’s crucial to maintain a safe following distance and remain alert to traffic changes.
