Wichita, KS (June 17, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon, June 17, around 1:59 p.m. on K-96 Eastbound at milepost 294.4 near the Rock Road exit in Sedgwick County. The accident involved a rear-end collision as two vehicles exited the highway, resulting in injuries to one driver.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, both vehicles were traveling eastbound on K-96 and were exiting toward Rock Road when the crash occurred. The driver of a 2025 Ford Escape, 49-year-old Sarai Morales of Wichita, was slowing due to traffic ahead. The trailing vehicle, a 2010 Honda Accord driven by 19-year-old Nevaeh Fields of Andover, failed to slow in time and struck the Ford from behind. Morales was transported to Wesley Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Fields was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured. Both vehicles were insured. The crash did not result in a road closure, and the investigation remains ongoing.
We extend our thoughts to Ms. Morales and wish her a full and speedy recovery following the crash.
