Yates Center, KS (March 14, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Highway 54 at mile marker 322 Eastbound, approximately six miles east of Yates Center, Kansas. The accident took place at around 5:15 p.m. when a Chevrolet Impala failed to slow down and collided with the rear passenger side of a Chevrolet Malibu that was stopped for an unrelated turning vehicle. As a result of the impact, the Impala veered off the roadway and came to a stop in the westbound ditch. The driver of the Impala, identified as Ronald F. De Voe, 49, of Chanute, Kansas, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Allen County Regional Hospital for treatment.
The crash led to temporary traffic disruptions on U.S. Highway 54 as emergency responders worked to clear the scene. Authorities confirmed that both vehicles were insured, with the Impala covered by American Family Mutual Insurance and the Malibu insured by Farm Bureau Property & Casualty Insurance.
