Edwardsville, KS - Driver Hurt in Hit-&-Run at I-435 & K-32

Edwardsville, KS (May 8, 2024) – A driver was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in the Edwardsville area on Tuesday, May 7. The incident was reported on Interstate 435 NB near K-32 that night around 6:20 p.m. Local reports revealed that 21-year-old Cassius Alexander Vanderpool of Bonner Springs was headed northbound in a 2024 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on the interstate at the time of the crash. 

Vanderpool was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle. The driver of the car fled the scene without providing aid. Emergency crews were later dispatched to the scene to render aid to the involved parties. Vanderpool was later transferred by ambulance to Overland Park Regional Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on his condition are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
