Garden City, KS (June 14, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a driver failed to yield at a stop sign in the Garden City area on Thursday, June 13. The accident took place on US-50 near Raceway Road early that morning around 9:06 a.m. Local reports revealed that 81-year-old Jerri Maree Jackson of Garden City was headed north on Raceway Road in a 2003 Buick Park Avenue as 27-year-old Luis Enrique Lopez Medrano of Garden City was traveling east on US-50 in a 2006 Freightliner. 

It was reported that Jackson failed to yield at a stop sign and crashed into the commercial truck. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Jackson was transported by ambulance to St. Catherine’s Hospital for treatment, and Medrano was also hurt and provided assistance at the scene by attending medical personnel. No updates on the conditions of the involved parties have been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
