Kansas City, KS (June 8, 2024) – On Friday, June 7, a driver was injured following a rear-end collision in the Kansas City area. The incident was reported on Interstate 35 SB near Lamar Avenue that night around 5:23 p.m. Local reports indicated that three vehicles were involved in the collision.

It was later revealed that a 2007 Mazda Five, a 2013 Toyota Rav4, and a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse were traveling southbound on the interstate at the time of the crash. It was reported that 45-year-old Jose Julio Sanchez Vasquez of Overland Park was driving the Traverse when he slowed due to traffic on the roadway. As traffic slowed, the Mazda, driven by 29-year-old Jazmyne M. Mills of Kansas City, crashed into the rear of the Toyota, driven by 30-year-old Elle McClenny of Leawood. The impact caused the Toyota to push into the rear of the Chevy. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene. Vasquez was transported to Shawnee Mission Medical Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is in progress.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
