Matfield Twp, KS (June 9, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a single-vehicle crash in the area of Matfield Township on Saturday, June 8. The accident was reported early that morning around 1 a.m. on Interstate 35 SB near mile marker 106 in Chase County. Local reports revealed that the victims were traveling southbound in a 2020 Nissan Rogue at the time of the crash.
The driver, 41-year-old Angelica Simbana-Cuenca of Hackensack, NJ, lost control of the vehicle after it hydroplaned on the roadway. The Nissan left the road where it crashed into a nearby ditch. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both Simabana-Cuenca and her passenger, 23-year-old Francesca Pulgarin Simbana of Wichita, were hurt in the collision. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
