Overland Park, KS (March 21, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a multi-vehicle accident in the Overland Park area on Wednesday morning, March 20. The accident was reported early that morning at around 8 a.m. on Interstate 435 EB near Antioch Road in Johnson County. Local reports indicated that a 2015 Lincoln MKZ driven by 25-year-old Caleb Edwards of Springdale, AK was merging onto the highway from Antioch Road.
Traffic was stopped on the highway, and Edwards collided with a 2020 Jeep Renegade driven by 45-year-old Cherryl Castillo of Overland Park. The impact caused a chain-reaction collision where the Jeep crashed into a 2019 Honda Accord which then hit a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan. The drivers of the Honda and Dodge were injured in the collision.
The injured parties were later identified as 29-year-old Clifford Chandler of Lees Summit, MO, and 30-year-old Celso Pucheta Chiguil of Mexico. Chandler was transported to Overland Park Regional, and Chiguil was transferred to Advent Health for treatment. No further information has been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
