Colby, KS (March 9, 2024) – There were several reported injuries following a single-vehicle crash in the Colby area on Friday, March 8. The accident was reported at around 7:50 a.m. on Interstate 70 EB near County Road 22 in Thomas County. A total of five people were hurt in the collision.
Local reports revealed that a 2010 Ford F-250 pickup truck hauling a trailer driven by 38-year-old Adrian Jose Garcia of Washington, AK was traveling westbound on the interstate leading up to the accident. The vehicle and the trailer hit a patch of ice on the roadway. The driver lost control and overturned before coming to a rest in a ditch.
Garcia was transported to Citizen’s Medical Center for treatment of sustained injuries. Four other occupants in the truck were also hospitalized for treatment. They were later identified as 28-year-old Luis Antonio, 31-year-old Edgar Luna Garcia, 19-year-old Alan Morales, and 40-year-old Jose Ortega.
No updates on the conditions of the injured parties have been provided. No further information on the crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
