Kansas City, KS (May 23, 2024) – There were multiple people hurt after a multi-vehicle accident in the Kansas City area on Wednesday, May 22. The accident took place on Interstate 70 WB near mile marker 414 in Wyandotte County. Local reports indicated that five vehicles were involved in the crash.
It was revealed that 18-year-old Gerald Mullins IV of Lansin was headed westbound in a 2013 Dodge Journey when he hit a 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan driven by 33-year-old Paul Stutzman of Fredonia, KT. Mullins continued to collide with two other vehicles, a 2019 Volvo driven by 51-year-old Ryan Tietze of Clovis, CA, and a 2017 Hyundai Elantra driven by 65-year-old James Robinson of Basehor. The impact caused the Elantra to hit a 2017 Honda Pilot driven by Jason Barker of Overland Park. Mullins was hurt and treated at the scene by attending medical personnel. Stutzman and two of his passengers, later identified as 35-year-old Loretta Kauffman of Princeton, KT, and 36-year-old Laverda Stutzman of Fredonia, were transported to the Kansas University Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries.
