Oak Hill, KS (April 17, 2024) – Three people were injured following a collision in the Oak Hill area on Tuesday, April 16. The accident was reported that afternoon around 4:23 p.m. at the 2653 block of Treaty Road in Ottawa County. Local reports revealed that a 1987 Mack dump truck driven by 56-year-old Michael T. Haney of Salina was traveling westbound on Treaty leading up to the incident.
It was then that a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 71-year-old Vera F. Lyne of Clay Center pulled out of a private driveway and entered the path of the oncoming truck. The impact caused both vehicles to come to rest in a ditch north of the roadway. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render aid to the involved parties. Haney, Lyne, and a passenger in the dump truck, 59-year-old Peter C. Haney Jr. of Minneapolis, were all transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
