Fort Scott, KS (August 2, 2024) – A head-on impact in the Fort Scott area on Thursday, August 2, resulted in confirmed injuries. The crash was reported that afternoon around 1:15 on K-39 west of K-7. Local reports indicated that 22-year-old Quentin F. Morey of Tecumseh was headed east on K-39 in a 2006 Nissan SUV as 60-year-old Steven K. Bahr of Rush Springs, OK was traveling westbound in a 2025 Freightliner commercial truck.
For unknown reasons, Morey crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the oncoming semi-truck. Morey sustained critical injuries in the crash and was rushed to Mercy Hospital-Joplin in Missouri for treatment. No updates on the conditions of the involved parties have been provided at this time. No further information on the crash is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident.
