Hutchinson, KS (April 28, 2025) – On Monday afternoon, April 28, a two-vehicle crash involving a trailer occurred on US-50 Westbound near milepost 241, just east of the Arkansas River in Reno County. The incident was reported at approximately 3:03 p.m. and resulted in injuries to at least one person.
According to authorities, a 2018 Toyota Rav-4 towing a single-axle flatbed trailer was traveling westbound in lane two when it was rear-ended by a 2016 Ram 1500. The impact caused the trailer to detach and come to rest in the center median. Both vehicles eventually stopped on the right shoulder. The driver of the Toyota, 78-year-old George A. Sanders of Stafford, KS, sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. The driver of the Ram, 68-year-old Connie Marie Boese of Hillsboro, KS, reported pain but was not transported. Emergency responders cleared the scene, and traffic was temporarily affected. An investigation by local law enforcement is underway, and further details may be released as the situation develops.
Our thoughts are with those involved in the crash. We extend our well wishes to the injured parties and hope for a swift recovery.
Rear-End Collisions and Driver Awareness in Kansas
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of traffic accidents, often resulting from driver inattention or following too closely. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that nearly 29% of all crashes in the U.S. are rear-end collisions. These incidents can occur in a split second, especially when traffic suddenly slows or a vehicle is towing a load. Even at lower speeds, rear-end crashes can cause serious injuries and lead to long-term consequences for those involved. Increasing driver awareness and maintaining safe following distances can significantly reduce these accidents.
The aftermath of a crash can be confusing and stressful. Victims of rear-end accidents should take prompt action to protect their health and legal rights.
