Johnson County, KS (July 13, 2025) – On Sunday evening, July 13, a two-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on I-35 northbound at milepost 228 near 67th Street in Johnson County. The crash resulted in at least one reported injury and involved a pickup truck and an SUV.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2022 Ram 2500 driven by 39-year-old Jonathan Griffith of Smithville, Kansas, was traveling in lane 4 northbound on I-35 behind a 2017 Audi Q7. Traffic began to slow, and Griffith’s vehicle struck the rear of the Audi. Griffith was transported to Shawnee Mission Medical Center with a possible injury after complaining of pain. The driver of the Audi, 51-year-old Maria Rodriguez of Roeland Park, Kansas, and her 14-year-old passenger, Jacob Alvarez, were both evaluated at the scene and reported no apparent injuries. Both vehicles were removed by local towing services. The crash remains under investigation by Trooper K113.
