Kansas City, KS – Hit-and-Run Crash on I-635 Leaves Two Injured

Kansas City, KS (May 10, 2025) – On Saturday evening, May 10, a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles resulted in injuries on I-635 Southbound near mile marker 5.2, approximately 0.2 miles south of State Avenue in Wyandotte County. The crash occurred around 8:55 p.m. and involved a 2006 Scion XA and a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. At least two people suffered suspected minor injuries, and one person was transported to a local hospital.

According to investigators, the 2006 Scion XA, traveling south in the #1 and #2 lanes, swerved and struck the Chevrolet Silverado, which was in the #3 lane. The impact caused the Silverado to veer off the roadway to the left and collide with the median wall. The Scion fled the scene following the crash. Emergency responders were dispatched, and at least one occupant from the Silverado was taken to KU Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Scion, identified as Erick A. Garcia, 47, of Kansas City, Kansas, sustained suspected minor injuries and was later located and taken to Providence Medical Center. Authorities closed portions of the highway to clear the scene and investigate. The incident remains under investigation, and more details may emerge as it continues.
