Pedestrian accidents can happen quickly, often when drivers fail to notice pedestrians at intersections. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 6,000 pedestrians were killed in the U.S. in 2020, highlighting the dangers of crossing streets, especially at busy intersections.

To help keep pedestrians safe, drivers should always be alert for individuals crossing streets, even when the light is green. Pedestrians, too, should exercise caution, especially at night or in high-traffic areas.
