Newton, KS (August 11, 2024) – A man was killed after being hit by a semi-truck in the Newton area on Saturday, August 10. The deadly crash was reported on Interstate 135 NB near mile marker 24 that afternoon around 3:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that the victim was standing on the interstate outside of a red Ford Fusion when he was struck.
The operator of the vehicle was reportedly unable to move over to heavy traffic on the highway. The truck was slowing down as it approached the Ford, and the victim entered the roadway and was hit. The injured party, later identified as 44-year-old Richard Hall of Overland Park, suffered fatal injuries in the impact and was later pronounced dead at the scene. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
