Overland Park, KS (April 7, 2024) – Three people suffered injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the Overland Park area on Saturday, April 6. The accident was reported that evening around 10:15 p.m. on Interstate 35 SB near Lamar Avenue. A 2018 GMC sport utility vehicle driven by 30-year-old Christopher D. H. Manning of Lenexa and a 2014 Mazda Crossover driven by 36-year-old Shannon H. De Buchel of Overland Park were traveling southbound on the interstate at the time of the accident.
Manning was traveling at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended the Mazda. The GMC proceeded to leave the roadway where it overturned into a ditch. Manning was transported by ambulance to OPR Medical Center ER of Shawnee for treatment of sustained injuries. De Buchel and their passenger, identified as 33-year-old Jennifer C. De Buhcel also from Overland, were both transferred to the Kansas University Medical Center in stable condition. No further updates on the accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
