Tonganoxie, KS (February 28, 2024) – On Wednesday, February 28, two people were hurt after a crash involving a semi-trailer in the Tonganoxie area. The accident occurred on Interstate 70 in Leavenworth County at around 2:17 a.m. Local sources indicated that a 2014 Volkswagen Passat and a 2000 Kenworth semi-trailer were headed eastbound at the time of the collision.
The Volkswagen rear-ended the semi-trailer. The driver of the Passat, 60-year-old Sandra Keough of Wamego, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City for treatment of sustained injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, 54-year-old Gregory Rodriquez of Katy, TX, was also hospitalized for treatment.
The Pennsylvania man driving the commercial truck was reportedly unharmed in the accident. No further information on the accident has been provided at this time. Local law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, and more updates will be provided as they become available.
