Topeka, KS - Local Woman Dies in Head-on Collision on 53rd St

Topeka, KS (April 12, 2024) – A local woman was killed after a head-on crash in the Topeka area on Thursday, April 11. The fatal accident was reported at the 7800 block of SW 53rd Street early that morning around 7:42 a.m. Local reports revealed that two vehicles collided head-on at the scene. 

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to render aid to the involved parties. The roadway was closed down between Southwest Auburn Road and Southwest Indian Hills Road while paramedics were present to render aid to the involved parties. It was later revealed that 24-year-old Ashley Boyd of Topeka suffered fatal injuries in the accident. Boyd was a teacher at Lowman Hill Elementary. 

An infant passenger in Boyd’s vehicle and the other driver were transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. The area was later reopened that afternoon at around 12:20 p.m. No updates on the fatal accident are currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
