Topeka, KS (June 3, 2025) – On Tuesday evening, June 3, a two-vehicle crash with injuries occurred in Shawnee County. The collision took place around 6:20 p.m. on U.S. Highway 75 northbound at NW 86th Street, near mile marker 170.1. Authorities reported that a Saturn Vue and a Jeep Gladiator were involved, and at least one person sustained injuries as a result.
According to investigators, the driver of the Saturn, 43-year-old Andrew Smither of Topeka, was traveling eastbound on NW 86th Street when he failed to yield the right of way and struck the northbound Jeep Gladiator on its driver’s side. Smither, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital with suspected minor injuries. The driver of the Jeep, 59-year-old Todd Wells of Mayetta, was reportedly uninjured and had been wearing a seatbelt. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by local services. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
