Topeka, KS (October 1, 2025) – On Wednesday morning, October 1, a two-vehicle crash was reported on U.S. Highway 75 northbound at NW 62nd Street in Shawnee County. The collision occurred at approximately 9:16 a.m. and resulted in injuries to both drivers involved.
According to investigators, a 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 83-year-old Mary Lucile Foreman-Harvey of Topeka was traveling northbound on U.S. 75 when it entered the turning lane to go east on NW 62nd Street. The vehicle crossed into the center median before being struck by a northbound 2019 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 41-year-old Danielle Louise King of Lawrence. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene. Emergency responders transported both drivers to Stormont Vail Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Law enforcement confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The incident is under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Ms. Foreman-Harvey and Ms. King as they recover, and we wish them both a full and speedy recovery.
Intersection Accidents in Kansas
Crashes at intersections remain a leading cause of injury accidents across Kansas. According to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), roughly 25% of all traffic fatalities and about half of all traffic injuries in the United States occur at or near intersections. Contributing factors include driver inattention, failure to yield, and misjudging the speed of oncoming vehicles. These types of collisions often result in serious injuries, especially for older drivers and those traveling at higher speeds.
