Wichita, KS (May 31, 2024) – Two people were hurt after a crash involving a commercial truck in the Wichita area on Thursday, May 30. The incident took place on Interstate 35 in Butler County that afternoon around 2:30 p.m. Local reports revealed that 25-year-old Madisyn Keller of Hays was traveling northbound in the left lane in a 2013 Honda Accord when the vehicle hydroplaned. 

The Honda sideswiped a 2022 Freightliner semi-truck driven by 50-year-old Casey Welch of Topeka before hitting a barrier wall. The Accord was inoperable and had to be towed from the scene. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. Both Keller and her passenger, 25-year-old Haley Williams of Peru, were transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No other injuries were reported in the collision. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
