Winfield, KS: Multi-Vehicle Crash on 202nd Road Injures Two

Cowley County, KS (March 14, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Friday afternoon in the 4000 block of 202nd Road, approximately 0.3 miles east of 41st Road. The accident took place at around 2:55 p.m. when extreme weather conditions forced a semi-truck to stop in the roadway. A Mazda 6 then rear-ended the semi, followed by a GMC Denali crashing into the Mazda. Two individuals sustained injuries in the crash, with one being transported to the hospital for further treatment.

At this time, authorities have reported that the driver of the Mazda 6, Melissa Diane Carlson, 56, of Belle Plaine, suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Wesley Medical Center. The driver of the GMC Denali, Holly Renee Davidson, 39, of Winfield, sustained suspected minor injuries but did not require immediate hospitalization. The driver of the semi-truck, Alberto Lopez Martinez, and his passenger, Steven Michael Dennis, both of El Dorado, were not injured. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist, and the vehicles were removed by B & L Truck and Auto. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances leading to the crash, and further details may be released as the investigation progresses.
