McPherson, KS (June 11, 2024) – Two motorcyclists were injured after a collision in the McPherson area on Monday, June 10. The crash took place on Interstate 135 that afternoon around 12:21 p.m. Local reports revealed that a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle and a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle were traveling southbound on the interstate in the passing lane when the Kawasaki hit the rear of a 2021 Freightliner semi-trailer.
Both, the Kawasaki and the Yamaha riders, laid their bikes down on the ground, with the Kawasaki coming to a stop in the median and the Yamaha on the inside shoulder. The rider of the Kawasaki, 64-year-old Ricky Collins of Fullerton, NE, was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for the treatment of serious injuries. The rider of the Yamaha, 40-year-old Eric Whited of Ord, NE, was also hospitalized in serious condition. The truck driver, 27-year-old Nurbolot Vhanyzakov of Loveland, OH, was not hurt. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
