Wichita, KS (September 17, 2025) – On Wednesday morning, September 17, a two-vehicle crash took place on northbound I-135 near mile marker 5.4, just south of Lincoln Street in Sedgwick County. The accident happened around 7:37 a.m. and resulted in two reported injuries.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2017 Dodge Charger driven by Seeti N. Paskali of Wichita was traveling in the third lane northbound when it struck the rear of a 2012 Nissan 370Z. The Nissan had slowed for stopped traffic ahead when the Dodge, which was following too closely, failed to stop in time. A passenger in the Dodge, 15-year-old Debora Love of Wichita, was transported to Wesley Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan, 23-year-old Jessica J. Hernandez of Haysville, also reported suspected minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital. Paskali was not injured. Emergency crews responded, and the Dodge was privately towed from the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families during this time. We hope for their full and speedy recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Kansas

Wichita, KS – Rear-End Crash on I-135 Injures Two

Rear-end accidents are one of the most common types of traffic collisions, often caused by drivers following too closely or failing to adjust to sudden stops in traffic. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that nearly one in three crashes in the U.S. are rear-end collisions, many of which result in serious injuries. These crashes can be particularly dangerous on high-speed roadways like interstates, where sudden traffic slowdowns leave little time for drivers to react. Maintaining a safe following distance is key to preventing such accidents.
