Baldwin City, KS (March 3, 2024) – One person was killed and another was injured following a motorcycle accident in the Baldwin City area on Sunday morning, March 3. The deadly crash was reported on US-59 near US-56 early that morning. Local reports indicated that two people were traveling southbound on an Indian Chieftain motorcycle when the rear tire experienced a blowout. 

This caused the motorcycle to slide and eject both passengers. The operator, identified as 48-year-old Christopher Robert Stergos of Tonganoxie, was transported to Overland Park Regional Medical Center in serious condition. The other passenger, identified as 49-year-old Margaret Kathleen Coleman of Overland Park, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The area was temporarily closed as emergency responders were present to render aid. No additional information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
