Shawnee County, KS (March 20, 2025) – A rear-end collision occurred on Thursday, March 20, at approximately 12:02 p.m. on U.S. Highway 75, about 0.2 miles north of NW Lower Silver Lake Road. The accident involved two vehicles traveling southbound, a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2012 Nissan Frontier. The crash resulted in injuries, with two individuals transported to the hospital.

According to initial reports, the Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 89-year-old John Ashby of Topeka, rear-ended the Nissan Frontier for an unknown reason. The driver of the Nissan, 74-year-old Gilbert Oshea of Hoyt, sustained suspected minor injuries, while his passenger, 75-year-old Lois Oshea, suffered suspected serious injuries. Both were transported to Stormont Vail Hospital for treatment. Ashby, the driver of the Chevrolet, did not report any injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the vehicles were removed by AAA and Brown’s Super Service. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
