Montezuma, KS (October 31, 2024) – There were confirmed injuries after a crash involving a commercial truck in the Montezuma area on Wednesday, October 30. The accident took place near the US-50 and KS-23 interchange early that morning, around 7 a.m. Local reports revealed that 77-year-old Patricia Lou Dewey of Cimarron was headed eastbound on US-50 in a 2022 Lincoln Navigator.
At the same time, 22-year-old Inoel Martinez-Rubio of Garden City was also traveling east on the highway in a 2007 Kenworth semi-truck. The Lincoln hit the front end of the third axle on the semi. The Navigator came to a rest in the eastbound lanes facing south. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Both drivers were reportedly injured. Dewey was transported by ambulance to St. Catherine’s Hospital for treatment. No further information on the accident is currently available. Local law enforcement officials are managing an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with Patricia Lou Dewey, Inoel Martinez-Rubio, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
