Wichita, KS (July 13, 2024) – Two people were injured following a collision in the Wichita area on Friday, July 12. The accident was reported on Interstate 235 SB near W. Zoo Boulevard early that morning around 8:16 a.m. Local reports indicated that 65-year-old Brian G. Dell of Hennessey, OK was traveling southbound on the interstate in a 2022 Peterbilt semi-truck alongside a 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by a 15-year-old McPherson resident.
The semi attempted to merge into lane two, causing the Chevy to crash into a Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) guard rail. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Dell was treated at the scene. The driver of the Chevy and her passenger, 38-year-old Tara J. Pease of Peabody, was transported to Newton Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.
